Van Vilet Hemlocks
Van Vliet Hemlocks is an impressive, ecologically significant old-growth hemlock-hardwood forest in Presque Isle with wetlands, bogs, and undeveloped lake shore. Designated as a State Natural Area in 2013, the property is owned by the DNR. A non-profit group, Friends of Van Vilet Hemlocks was established in 2011 to protect and preserve the unique ecology, help maintain the trails and provide educational materials and programs for the public.
