Absentee Voting Spring Election 4/2/2024

March 23, 2024

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may submit a request to vote an absentee ballot to their municipal clerk. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen who: will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day and who has resided in the ward or municipality where they wish to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered to vote to receive an absentee ballot. Proof of identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued*.

Emergency Road Limits

February 21, 2024

Pursuant to Section 349.16 Wisconsin State Statutes, the Town of Winchester has imposed temporary weight restrictions due to the unseasonably warm temperatures and forecasted rain on all Winchester Town Roads effective Tuesday February 6, 2024. Weight Limits will be removed once roads freeze, and conditions return to normal. Special concessions on the Town roads may be made on a case-by-case basis through the issuance of a single or multiple trip permit by contacting Town Chair Joseph Discianno at 630-546-1265.

Proposed Town of Winchester Artificial Wake Ordinance

The purpose of this ordinance is to protect the health of the lakes for the benefit of all and to provide safe and healthful conditions for the enjoyment of aquatic recreation consistent with public rights and interests. There exist within the Town numerous natural lakes which have seen minimal development and are overall very healthy as indicated by the Comprehensive Management Plan. Voting Machine Public Test

Special Town (Electors) Meeting

A special town (electors) meeting will be held on Nov 28 @ 6pm. at the Community Center. The purpose of this meeting is to have electors consider the adoption of a resolution endorsing the town board’s proposed levy increase. The town budget hearing will proceed as noticed for Nov 16 at 6pm. Special Town Meeting of the electors originally scheduled for November 16th will be held November 28th at 6:00 PM. Joint EMS District

The Town Board held a public hearing and two informational sessions for Winchester residents. These documents may be helpful in providing information regarding the formation of a joint EMS district for the four towns of Winchester, Winchester, Manitowish Waters, and Boulder Junction. Proposed Intergovernmental Agreement Strategic Management Consulting Recommendations Cost of EMS District for 2024 Your attendance at the Special Town Electors Meeting at 6:00 PM on November 28 is needed to approve the levy increase for this higher level of emergency services.
