Transfer Station/ Recycling Center

Located at 7208 County Highway W, next to the Municipal Building

WE DO TAKE:

(see fee schedule for pricing)

  • Regular trash/waste
  • Metal scrap
  • Lumber (must be cut smaller than 2 feet)
  • Carpet (must be cut into 16 inch wide pieces, rolled up no bigger than 2 foot rolls)
  • Refrigerant appliances, electronics, furniture, windows, doors, miscellaneous household items
  • Lead-acid vehicle batteries

WE DO NOT TAKE:

  • Antifreeze
  • Paint, varnish, stain
  • Household liquids

RECYCLING:

  • Paper, cardboard, and cartons should be broken down into 2 foot by 2 foot pieces to maximize space
  • Metal should be rinsed clean
  • Glass bottles should be rinsed clean and have labels removed
  • Plastics should be rinsed clean and have labels removed - ONLY #1 and #2 go into the recyclables; #3 through #7 go into trash

Transfer station is CLOSED on the following holidays:
Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, 4th of July and New Years Day.

Brush Days - Open to All Winchester Residents

Located at 7673 South Turtle Lake Road, on the sharp corner (the Old Transfer Site, NOT the current Transfer Station)

Held occasionally throughout non-winter months. Notification of brush days will be provided via Town email list, on the Town Calendar, and on the Town Sign outside of the Municipal Building

WE DO TAKE:

  • Brush
  • Leaves
  • Sticks

WE DO NOT TAKE:

  • Any brush larger than 8 inches in diameter
  • Trees
